Weeks after venture capitalist Mahesh Murthy was arrested and released on bail by the Khar police in an alleged sexual harassment and stalking case, four women have approached the National Commission for Women (NCW), alleging sexual harassment by Murthy.

The NCW has forwarded the complaints to Maharashtra police chief and chief minister, urging them to take strict action.

According to the NCW, the four complainants include a journalist and a government official, and are from cities like Mumbai, Bhubaneshwar, Bengaluru and Australia.

"If the allegations are true, he is dangerous to the society," said Rekha Sharma, Member with the additional charge of Chairperson, NCW.

An NCW member claimed that one of the victims stated in her complaint that Murthy, on the eve of Diwali in 2016, texted her some explicit content, while another complainant alleged that Murthy had molested her at a coffee shop in a five-star hotel in Mumbai. Two of the women alleged Murty molested them in his office in Mumbai.

"I received four more complaints against Murthy. I am shocked to read the details... how is this man roaming free? If the allegations are true, he is dangerous to the society. I have forwarded all the complaints to DGP and CM of Maharashtra, requesting them to take strict action and press serious charges against Murthy, if the complaints are found to be true," said Rekha Sharma, Member with the additional charge of Chairperson, NCW.
