Around 300 temporary employees of a Punjab based company, which was supplying spices to Nestle India for Maggi noodles, have been sacked, reported an English daily.

According to report, every month, Paras Spices Private Limited supplied nearly 200-250 tonne spices to a Nestle unit in Moga for Maggi noodles.

Stating that we were supplying spices worth nearly Rs 50 crore annually, Vinay Kumar, Managing Director of Paras Spices added, "We have to shut our unit for the time being and stopping of Maggi production has affected business of ancillaries in Moga."

The company has asked around 300 employees to look for a job. The company director also said that the ban in long run may affect contract farming venture too, in which around 120 farmers are involved.

Meanwhile, in a major setback to Nestle India Ltd, the Bombay High Court on Friday refused to stay orders of Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) and Maharashtra government, imposing a ban on sale of nine variants of the company's Maggi in the Indian market for being "hazardous" to public health.

On June 5, the FSSAI and its CEO passed an order, asking the company to withdraw and recall all its nine variants of Maggi from the market as they were unsafe and hazardous for human consumption. The impugned orders also asked the company to stop production, processing, import, distribution and sale of their products with immediate effect, said Nestle.
