3 held for possessing cache of arms in Maharashtra

A case under sections of the Prevention of Arms Act was registered.

Three persons were arrested for allegedly possessing a cache of arms and ammunitions in Maharashtra's Yavatmal district, police said on Tuesday.

The trio - Jatinder Singh Sajjan Singh (34), G A Joseph (30) and Vijay Singh Navalkishor Singh (35) - were apprehended yesterday and produced before a local court which sent them in police remand till March 26, Police Station Officer of Wani Police station, Mukund Kulkarni said.

Acting on a tip off, police searched a car at the Lalguda area in Wani. During which, they found weapons like hand made shot gun, 13 cartridges of AK-47 riffle, four iron swords and a few knives, he said.

A case under sections of the Prevention of Arms Act was registered in this regard and investigations are underway, police said.
