3 female sub inspectors to be appointed in each Haryana woman police station

Three women sub-inspectors (SIs) would be appointed in each woman police station in the state to further strengthen their functioning, according to Haryana DGP B S Sandhu.

Besides, woman helpline number 1091 would be linked with centralised monitoring system so as to ensure it is monitoring at the level of police headquarters.

This will help in providing immediate assistance to the women in the light of any untoward incident, Haryana Director General of Police B S Sandhu told reporters after presiding over a meeting with Supervisory Officers and SHOs of all-women police stations, in Panchkula today.

He said the process to recruit 73 female SIs has already been started. After its completion, these police officers would be appointed in women police stations.

Apart from 400 male SIs, the process to recruit 7,000 constables, 1,000 of them female, is also going on, he added.

Sandhu said that a committee of senior police officers would soon be constituted to review the working system of women police stations in the state.

Asked to comment on the proposed Jat reservation agitation in Jassia near Rohtak on June 2, the DGP said that everyone in the democracy has a right to protest, but in a peaceful manner.

He asserted that the Haryana Police was "fully capable" to maintain law and order in the state, he added.

On a question concerning Inter-state Crime Control, he said that a meeting to this effect was convened recently with the states of Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan, and the Union Territory of Delhi.

"We hope to get fruitful results very soon," he added.

The meeting was attended by top police officials including Director General (Headquarters), K K Mishra, ADGP (Crime), P K Aggarwal, ADGP (Law and Order) Mohd Akil, IG (Law and Order), A S Chawla. Besides, 28 SHOs of woman police stations and 25 Supervisory Officers were also present at the meeting.
