There is some good news for aspirants for the coveted Rajasthan Administrative Services (RAS).
The Rajasthan Public Service Commission (RPSC) has announced that there will be an increase in the number of posts on which candidates will be selected for RAS and its allied services.
This time, the number of seats will be 334 for RAS, RPS and other coveted services in transport, labour and other departments where officers of allied services are posted.
In all the services, there is a total increase of 252 seats this time. In June, RPSC had declared exams will be held for 233 posts.
Recently, the commission increased the number as many posts in the administrative services are lying vacant. Recent promotions of RAS cadres in the state have also left several RAS and allied services posts vacant.
“This time, the number of seats for which examination will be held is 334. Seats have been increased partly because of promotions while many are lying vacant. These include RAS and allied services,” RPSC secretary KK Pathak told dna.
The exam will be held on October 26.
The development has given a new ray of hope to lakhs of aspirants who have been toiling hard for the last several years to taste a success.
Notably, on June 18, RPSC announced that examinations will be held for 233 seats. It had also declared 490 seats for subordinate services. However, things have changed since then and now even the number of subordinate services has been increased to 641.
It is noteworthy that lakhs of candidates appear for this RAS exam every year. Its allied services include departments of cooperatives, tourism, devsathan services making it total 16 state services and 11 subordinate services. Every year, mostly RAS officers are inducted.
