A 24-year-old woman, daughter of a deceased policeman was allegedly gang-raped and dumped on the pavement in the busy Nehru Place area of South Delhi on the intervening nights of Tuesday and Wednesday. A case has been registered at the Kalkaji police station. The woman has allegedly drugged and gang-raped by three men in a moving car. Police said they have nabbed two accused, who were known to the victim.
Police noticed the crime, when an auto rickshaw driver spotted the woman wandering near Nehru Place flyover in an intoxicated condition. Her clothes were torn. The auto rickshaw driver, suspecting that the woman might have been sexually assaulted, informed the police control room.
The woman was taken to the AIIMS where doctors confirmed rape. After regaining her consciousness, the victim narrated that two men had drugged and then raped her in turns. On the basis of her statement, a case of drugging and rape was registered at the Kalkaji police station. The woman in her statement told police that she lives in east Delhi with her live-in partner.
According to her, on Tuesday evening, she had accompanied the two accused in their car for some work. They offered her cold drink, apparently laced with sedatives. When she started feeling drowsy, the two men took turns to rape her. They dropped her in Nehru Place from where she began walking until she was noticed by the auto rickshaw driver.
Police sources said that while the victim lives with her live-in partner, her mother stays with her aunt in East Delhi. The aunt is said to be a Delhi police constable. The late father of the victim was an also an employee of Delhi police.
