Amid uproar over brutal gangrapes in Kathua, Unnao and Surat, this story from Kerala shows that Prime Minsiter Narendra Modi’s flagship ‘beti bachao’ campaign has not found credible success on ground.

In a shocking incident, a two-day-old baby girl was flushed down the toilet at a clinic in Kerala.

The incident came to light after the plumbers tried to open the choked toilet at the clinic of Dr Abdul Rahman in Palakkad’s Malappuram.

According to The News Minute, the woman who worked at the clinic had complained about the clogged commode. On Friday, the plumbers notice a ‘ball-like’ object in the passage. To their horror, they discovered the body of the baby girl, which was not decomposed yet.

‘There wasn't much of a foul smell emanating from the toilet. The body hadn't decomposed when we recovered it. But the baby's placenta was intact and there was blood inside the commode. Seeing the colour of the blood, the domestic worker mistook it for muddy water,’ the cops were quoted as saying by the TNM.

According to the police, either the parents of the infant flushed her down the toilet or the mother delivered her in the commode and left the clinic.

The cops are working on the ‘mother delivering the child’ theory as the placenta was still attached to the body and there was blood all over.

The cops are verifying all the records of patients who recently visited the clinic.

The officials have sent the body of the baby girl to nearby Thrissur medical college for the post-mortem procedure.
