A man and his brother was on Friday sentenced to death for killing his wife, parents in-law and her niece for dowry four years ago.

Karimnagar Sixth Additional Sessions Judge G Venkata Krishnaiah convicted Junnugari Devender (26) and his cousin Junnugari Naresh (24) on charges of killing four persons and pronounced that they must be hanged until death.

According to Additional Public Prosecutor S Giridhar Rao, the accused Devender, a resident of Eight Incline Colony at Godavarikhani in Karimnagar district, used to allegedly harass his wife Aruna, her father B Banaiah and mother B Banamma for dowry.

After Aruna refused to bring additional dowry, Devender hatched a plan to eliminate her with the help of Naresh.

He reached Aruna's parental house at Pothana Colony in Godavarikhani on the night of March 27, 2010 along with Naresh where they killed her parents by smothering them with a pillow when they were asleep. They then killed Aruna by throttling her to death.

Since Deepti, minor daughter of Aruna's brother, witnessed the murders they also eliminated her by strangling her to death with a handkerchief.  The case was registered by Godavarikhani II town police following a complaint by B Ravi.
