The two terrorists have been identified as Mukhtar Ahmad Khan and Mohommad Amin Mir.
Security forces have neutralised 17 terrorists, including top Pakistani commanders, in the last 10 days in the Kashmir valley. The latest incident being two terrorists killed in Central Kashmir's Budgam district on Thursday.
Police said a search operation was launched on Thursday morning jointly by a team of police and security forces based on credible inputs about the presence of terrorists in the Zagoo area in Budgam.
"During search operation, hiding terrorist fired on the search party. The fire was retaliated leading to an encounter in which two terrorists were neutralised. An army jawan also sustained injuries who was evacuated to hospital. His condition is stated to be stable," a police spokesman said.
The two terrorists have been identified as Mukhtar Ahmad Khan and Mohommad Amin Mir. Police said both were involved in a series of terror attacks on security establishments in the area.
"Incriminating materials including arms and ammunition were recovered from the site of encounter. Police has registered a case and initiated investigation in the instant matter", said the spokesman.
Police also issued advisory urging the citizens not to venture inside the encounter zone since such an area can prove dangerous due to stray explosive materials.
With this encounter the death toll of terrorists killed in last 10 days has climbed to 17.
Of whom six terrorists were killed in two different operations in North and South Kashmir on October 25. On October 26, two militants were killed in Sopore. On October 24 ,two Hizbul Mujahideen terrorists including scholar turned terrorist were killed in an encounter at Nowgam in Srinagar outskirts.
On October 21, three Jaish-e-Mohammad terrorists were killed in the encounter at Kulgam. On Tuesday two Jaish terrorists including nephew of Pathankote attack mastermind Moulana Masood Azhar were killed in Chankitar area of Tral in South Kashmir district of Pulwama.
Five soldiers were also killed in different incidents in the last 10 days.
