1,400 Aurangabad prison inmates to get entertained, authorities to buy 20 LED TV sets

Around 1,400 prison inmates in Aurangabad will now be able to watch television on a 40-inch display as the jail authorities from the central prison have decided to purchase LED TV sets for the entertainment of prisoners as the existing TV sets are outdated and are also less in numbers.

Around 1,400 prison inmates in Aurangabad will now be able to watch television on a 40-inch display as the jail authorities from the central prison have decided to purchase LED TV sets for the entertainment of prisoners as the existing TV sets are outdated and are also less in numbers.

BR More, Superintendent, Aurangabad Central Prison, confirmed about the plan to purchase LED TV sets for the entertainment of the prisoners as the existing TV sets are very less in numbers and are very old.

According to prison authorities, it has sought quotations from manufactures for buying 20 LED TV sets for Aurangabad central prison that has around 16 barracks and around 1,400 prisoners.

"The collector of Aurangabad pays a visit every three months to supervise the facilities provided to the prisoners. There is a constant attempt to provide better facilities to prison inmates, and during a recent visit it was decided that LED TV sets will be purchased and procured for the prisoners along with RO water purifier that will be used for drinking water purposes of prison inmates," said More.

The prison authorities further said the LED TV sets will be made available in each barrack and prisoners will be able to watch TV together in specific hours where informative shows and programmes will be shown to the prison inmates for entertainment purposes. The current TV sets that are in use are very will be given back to procure new LED TV sets.

Aurangabad central prison is also known as the Harsul prison and has in the past had also set up stalls at various locations in Aurangabad to sell wooden furniture made by the prison inmates. Aurangabad central prison has inmates from all over the country and also members of the underworld convicted in 1993 Mumbai serial blasts.
