In an unprecedented move, 14 opposition members including 12 from the Congress were suspended today for an year from the Rajasthan Assembly on grounds of indiscipline.

Apart from the dozen Congress MLAs, including the party's deputy whip Govind Singh Dotasara, one BSP legislator and an independent were suspended after a proposal moved by the ruling side chief whip Kalu Lal Gurjar was passed in the House by voice vote.

Opposition members had earlier disrupted proceedings and rushed to the Well of the House protesting against the Speaker's decision not allowing Dotasara to ask a question.

The uproar and the manner of protests irked the Speaker who summoned marshals and ordered that the protesting members be taken out.

The House then saw three consecutive adjournments.

When the House again met, Meghwal vented his anger at the behaviour of opposition members, who were not present at that time.

Meghwal said the morale of Congress members was low after their party's repeated electoral defeats which was the reason they were disrupting the proceedings for the last three days.

He said that no indisciplined behaviour would be tolerated and stern action will be taken.

Ruling side chief whip Kalu Lal Gurjar moved a proposal for suspension of 14 opposition legislators from the House for one year on grounds of indiscipline which was passed by voice vote.

Apart from Dotasara, other suspended Congress MLAs are Dheeraj Gurjar, Ghanshyam, Ashok Chandna, Sukhram, Ramesh Meena, Shrawan Kumar, Bhajan Lal, Mewaram, Heeralal, Shakuntala Rawat, Rajendra Singh, BSP's Manoj Nyangli and independent Hanuman Beniwal.

NPP MLA Kirori Meena opposed the proposal.

Leader of opposition Rameshwar Dudi and other Congress MLAs then entered the house strongly opposing the move and also protested in the Well of the House but the Speaker did not accede to their demands.
