129 swine flu cases in Lucknow

With sharp rise in cases of swine flu in the state capital, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav has directed to provide free and prompt treatment to such patients in SGPGI, KGMU and other medical colleges of the state.

With nine more patients of swine flu in the state capital, the total figure of those infected by the disease reaches 129.

"Nine new patients have been been detected positive for H1N1 in the state capital since yesterday," Chief Medical Officer (CMO), Dr SNS Yadav said.

"With this, a total of 129 swine flu patients have been found in Lucknow so far. They are being treated in different hospitals of the city", he said.

Altogether, three persons including Swatantra Saksena, working in Merchant Navy, a retired Army officer and the wife of a retired jawan have succumbed to the disease in Lucknow.

The CM has also directed that availability of medicines should be ensured in government hospitals.

District Magistarte Rajshekhar, who held a meeting with Indian Medical Association (IMA) and Nursing Home Association (NHA) said that they have willingly agreed to reserve one isolation ward of 10 beds in total under the control of NHA and all the treatment of positive cases will be done free of cost by the Association.

The DM said that vaccination of doctors and the team deployed in the isolation ward will be one in next two days. Besides, for public awareness, the administration will provide contents and materials that will run in picture halls and FM Jingles.
