117 Pakistani Hindus living in Jodhpur get Indian citizenship, 2,300 applications still pending

About 117 Pak migrants belonging to Pakistan’s Sindh province and currently living on long-term visa in Jodhpur, expressed their happiness when they got Indian citizenship on Sunday.

The day was very special for these displaced people who had surrendered their passports and left the citizenship of Pak after they were given certificates. Upon getting these certificate they have now become Indian citizens. The district administration given citizenship certificates to these displaced people in special camps held in Jodhpur on Sunday.

After having suffered religious persecution and atrocities in Pakistan, these hapless people had came to Jodhpur dreaming for a better life.

These Pak migrants has been waiting for over 20 years to get the citizenship of India. Now they will be able to live here in peace. District Collector Dr Ravi Kumar Surpur said, “The citizenship of Pakistan was abandoned by these people. About 117 people were handed over the certificate of citizenship of India today.” Meanwhile, 2,300 applications of people desiring for the citizenship are still pending.
