A 10-year-old child crushed a 23-year-old youth while driving an SUV at a high speed in the narrow lanes of a densely populated area in Jodhpur. The speed of the vehicle was such that the man’s body tore into two parts.

The tragic incident took place at around Sunday noon when Puran Singh, a resident of Bhagat Ki Kothi, had parked his Tata Safari outside his house and was having lunch. In the meantime, his 10-year-old son is said to have taken keys and started the car.

From narrow lanes of the area, the child came on the main road where one Sanjay Kandara, a Nagar Nigam official, was working. Unable to notice the vehicle coming his way at full speed Kandara’s body spilt in two halves as the vehicle hit him.

The onlookers said that the car’s speed would have been around zooming 125 km/hour when the accident took place. However, the vehicle could only be stopped once it hit a service vehicle of the state government.

Witnesses told police officials that the car was moving in an uncontrolled manner which clearly showed that the child had no control over the vehicle.

When interrogated, the child revealed that he had got motivated by a movie he saw the same afternoon. The child also said that in the film he saw a sequence of cars ‘racing’ in the city streets.

The vehicle is registered in the name of one JK Sharma of Jodhpur where child’s father Puran Singh was deployed as a driver. It is a point of discussion among the officials and the locals as to who will be penalised for the accident since the accused is a minor.
