A court here today convicted an additional assistant engineer to one-year rigorous imprisonment in a 2008 bribery case.

Special Judge for anti-corruption cases, P Bhaskara Rao, convicted Konda Ramachandram (39), who was working with A P Northern Power Distribution Company Limited at Mandamarri division in Mancherial district, for accepting an amount of Rs 4,000 for giving power supply connection to the complainant's borewell.

Ramachandram was caught by the officials of Anti- Corruption Bureau (ACB) on May 22, 2008 at his residence while accepting the amount from complainant S Pochaiah.

The judge also imposed a fine of Rs 2,500 on Ramachandram and ordered that both the sentences shall run concurrently, said Special Public Prosecutor S Giridhar Rao.
