Barely a week after a fire on INS Sindhuratna in Mumbai killed two officers, one worker was killed and two others injured in an accident at a site of an under-construction nuclear submarine at Eastern Naval Command in Visakhapatnam on Saturday. This is the third naval mishap in a week. On Friday, a commander died after inhaling carbon dioxide following a gas leak on INS Kolkata in Mumbai.
The ship, which is undergoing machinery trials at the Mazagaon Docks Limited in Mumbai, is one of the most modern destroyers in India’s fleet of warships. There have been 11 naval accidents in seven months, resulting in the deaths of 21 people.
