Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday launched a scathing attack on Opposition and defended his government on various issues including incidents of mob lynching. 

Speaking to ANI in an interview, Modi touched on several issues including the recent political turmoil over Assam's draft National Register of Citizens (NRC). Slamming West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee over her comments about the NRC, Modi assured that no citizen of India will have to leave the country.

Banerjee had slammed Assam's draft NRC and asked who is the BJP to decide who is Indian or not. Banerjee has also continuously attacked the Modi government over mob lynchings.

Modi's comments come on the day BJP president Amit Shah was in Bengal where he attacked Banerjee for opposing the NRC in Assam.

The Prime Minister also spoke about job growth and claimed that 1 crore jobs were created in the last year alone.

On rising cases of lynching, Modi said that every single incident was deeply unfortunate and everyone should rise above politics to ensure unity and peace in society. Modi said that he and the BJP have spoken against such actions and mindset in clear words. 

On much-talked about hug of Congress president Rahul Gandhi, Modi said it is up to the people to judge whether it was a childish act or not.
