Parliament

Parliament on Friday began on a stormy note again with the Vijay Mallya case and Sri Sri Ravi Shankar's Art of Living megaevent in Delhi being raised.

Leader of the Opposition in Rajya Sabha Ghulam Nabi Azad reiterated that Vijay Mallya should not have been allowed to leave the country. He questioned why the CBI had changed the nature of lookout notice against him within one month of issuance from seeking his detention while leaving the country to that merely providing information about his travel plans. He also compared it to Greenpeace activist Priya Pillai's case.

Meanwhile, hours before PM Modi attends the event by Sri Sri Ravi Shankar's Art of Living Foundation in Delhi, the opposition questioned why the fine of Rs 5 crore has still not been deposited as asked by the National Green Tribunal.

The Lok Sabha also passed the Aadhar Bill.

Aadhar legislation is a money bill: Arun Jaitley in Lok Sabha. He overruled the Congress' objections that it has been turned into a money bill to avoid voting in the Rajya Sabha where the government does not have a majority.

He also sought to allay privacy concerns, saying the bill has made provisions for that. "There will be no sharing of Aadhar data without consent of residents and no biometric data will be shared even with their consent," he said.

Union Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi slammed Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi for his comments over liquor baron Vijay Mallya.

"This government won't give any concession to anyone like Congress gave it to Quattrocchi or anyone responsible for looting the peoples' money won't be spared," he said.

"It would be better for Rahul Gandhi if he asks his mummy ji, and Manmohan ji as to how the biggest culprit in this country Quattrocchi could flee away from India," he added.

Naqvi further said in Mallya's case the law will firmly take its course. "Every single penny would be addressed, Rahul Gandhi doesn't need to worry about that," he added.
