PM Modi inaugurates residential complex of 76 flats for MPs

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday inaugurated a multi-storeyed residential complex of 76 flats meant for Members of Parliament. This complex is built after demolishing eight bungalows, which were over 80 years old.

"Accommodation for the Members of Parliament has been a long-standing problem but it is now solved. Decades of old problems don't end by avoiding them, but by finding solutions," said Modi, while speaking through video-conferencing on the occasion.

He said that concepts of a green building were considered while constructing the multi-storeyed flats for the MPs. The concepts of rainwater harvesting, solar plant, and sewage treatment were used, he added.

The PM said that it was not only the residential complex of MPs but rather many projects stuck for years that have been completed.

"The problem which has persisted for years should not be overlooked but solution should be found, not only residential complex of MPs, many projects which were stuck for years have been completed," he said.

He made references to the Ambedkar National Centre, which he said was planned when Atal Bihari Vajpayee was the Prime Minister but only got completed in his tenure. Similarly, he referred to the building of the Central Information Commissioner and the police memorial, to make his point.

The National Police Memorial. which was built in recognition of the police personnel who laid their lives, was inaugurated by Modi in 2018.

Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla was also present during the virtual inauguration.
