Pakistan has said that it is in the process of framing a response to India's offer to resume talks but indicated that it would prefer to stick to the established composite dialogue process that was stalled in the wake of the 2008 Mumbai attack.

Though Pakistan will insist on reviving the composite dialogue, it is likely that prime minister Manmohan Singh will take a more measured approach since the public outrage against the Sharm el-Sheikh joint statement is still fresh in his memory.

Pakistan's foreign minister Shah Mehmood Quereshi said his high commission in Delhi had been asked to talk to external affairs ministry officials and decide on the time and venue for the ice-breaker.

Quereshi told an Indian television channel, “This is a good development and we are willing to talk about everything from water and Kashmir to terrorism and anything else on the table."
