A day after 56-year old Shiv Sena MP Ravindra Gaikwad was barred from flying by Air India and six private airlines, he will be arriving in Mumbai by August Kranti Rajdhani express.
Gaikwad assaulted an Air India (AI) staffer on Thursday, post which in a first-of-its-kind decision, the entire aviation industry decided to bar him from flying “with immediate effect”. An FIR has also been registered against Gaikwad at Delhi. “A case has been registered under Sections 308 (attempt to commit culpable homicide) and 355 (assault or criminal force with intent to dishonour person) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). We are transferring the case to the Crime Branch for a thorough probe,” Special Commissioner of Police Dependra Pathak said.
The MP's Air India, Indigo and Vistara ticket from Delhi to Pune was cancelled, and he was left with no option but to take a train. He boarded the train for Mumbai on Friday evening from Nizamuddin railway station. It was also reported he complained of chest pain during the journey and got off at Mathura station, but boarded the same train and continued journey.
Later when the press caught up with Gaikwad at Kota, he refused to say much saying that he’d let Uddhav Thackeray or Anil Desai speak for him.
