Sources told ANI that Modi invited President Obama to visit India after he demits office since Obama said he and Michelle were yet to see the Taj Mahal.

ANI sources say that Modi and Obama reviewed immediate priorities in strategic partnership during their meeting in Laos. Obama praised Modi’s initiatives to reform economy and said that the passage of GST will unleash significant economic activity. The two leaders also reviewed progress on Indo-US collaboration in nuclear energy, solar energy and innovation.

PM Modi: "India is committed to supporting realisation of RCEP. India can also play important role in APEC for deepening ongoing eco-integration in the region.

EAS is adopting a statement on non-proliferation. India is committed to strengthening its objectives. This underlines commonalities in approaches."

He also says: "We can share expertise & build partnerships for protection of marine resources, prevent environment degradation and tap blue economy. Have to be mindful of common security challenges. "

PM announces that India will organise the second EAS Conference on maritime security & cooperation later this year for this.

PM Modi addresses East Asia Summit and begins by appreciating Laos for its excellent summit arrangements.

He says: "Competing geo-politics, traditional and non-traditional challenges threaten peace, stability and prosperity of region. We expect that ASEAN will continue to lead and remain central to efforts aimed at greater regional integration and cooperation."

PM Modi holds bilateral talks with his Laotian counterpart Thongloun Sisoulith and discusses regional developments including the South China Sea issue. The two sides shared the same perspective on South China Sea, a foreign ministry spokesperson said.
