A strong earthquake on Sunday shook parts of India, Pakistan and Afghanistan, tremors of which were felt across North India, including Jammu & Kashmir and the national capital.

The epicentre of the earthquake, measuring 6.6 on the Richter scale, was near the Afghan border. The USGS said the quake was centred near Chitral in Pakistan at a depth of 210 km (130 miles).

The tremor occurred at 4:00 PM and people rushed out of their homes.

People in Jammu and Kashmir also felt the tremor. The metro rail service in Delhi has been halted following the quake.

According to Express Tribune, people in Pakistan rushed out of their homes in panic.

In October last year, over 200 people were killed as a strong earthquake jolted Pakistan and Afghanistan.
