Indian Navy, Anti Terrorists Sqad (ATS) and other security agencies have been put on a high alert after suspicious movements of people with arms were reported in Uran, near Mumbai.
According to initial reports, a few school children sighted 5-6 persons in pathan suits who appeared to be carrying weapons and backpacks near Uran Naval Base.
Indian Navy's Western Naval Command, expeditiously reacted to the situation by first initiating an alert and informing all coastal security stakeholders. Searches and other actions as per procedure have been initiated. The situation is being closely monitored in liaison with the Police. No person has been located or apprehended till now.
Police officials have refused to comment. However, there is a huge presence military, Navy officials, air force and police personnel across the city.
According to residents, movement of forces started around 10 am. All shops, school and courts were closed following the report of suspected militants in the city.
A corporator from Uran civic body said that students saw the suspected militants and then informed their school principal, following which police and Navy were informed.

Gujarat coast put on alert in the wake of high alert sounded along the Mumbai coast.
As a precautionary measure, teams of anti-terror commando force NSG have been deployed at three locations in Mumbai and another team has been kept ready at NSG base in IGI airport in Delhi to be flown if required.
Uran Education Society School declares a holiday tomorrow due to security reasons.
Navi Mumbai Commissioner of Police, Hemant Nagarale, and senior officials rushed to Uran to review the security situation and gathered details from the children.
Police sources said that state police's specialised commandos Force One and ATS being roped in for the search and security.

Indian Navy spokesperson took to Twitter to praise the Western Naval Command for expeditiously reacting to the reports. He said that search operations were initiated and the situation was closely monitored in liaison with the police. However, no one has been located or apprehended as of now.

According to PTI, security has been beefed up at sensitive locations along the coast, including the Gateway of India, Raj Bhawan, Bombay High, Bhabha Atomic Research Centre and other major establishments near the sea.
