As India rolled out the red carpet for Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe, Ahmedabad wore a festive look for the grand welcome. The Japanese PM began his two-day visit with a roadshow to Sabarmati Ashram. On Day 2, he will lay the foundation stone for India's first bullet train project.

On his second Indian visit, Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe arrived in Ahmedabad on Wednesday.  During the two-day visit, he will lay the foundation stone for India's first bullet train project.

The twin cities of Ahmedabad and Gandhinagar, hosted a slew of programmes during the high-profile visit, and were all decked up to welcome the foreign dignitary with streets shimmering in fluorescent lights, and hoardings and banners welcoming Abe dotting them.

Robust security arrangements is in place for the 12th Indo-Japan Summit and business meet where Japanese companies are likely to announce major investments in Gujarat.

The visit that began with an 8-km-long roadshow to the Sabarmati Ashram.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi accompanied his guests during the roadshow with people lining the streets.

After the visit to iconic Sidi Saiyyed Mosque, both leaders are heading to a very famous restaurant in Ahmedabad for a traditional Gujarati dinner .

The last major mosque built in Ahmedabad under Mughal rule, Sidi Sayyed Mosque's intricate jaalis, especially the the famous 'tree of life' jaali has become symbol of the city.
