It seems Delhi BJP president Vijay Goel and party’s chief ministerial candidate Dr Harshvardhan are not on the same page when it comes to taking support of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) to form the government if need be. Goel on Thursday said BJP is open to take support (from AAP). On Friday denying any alliance with AAP, Dr Harshvardhan said that BJP will get clear majority. Talking to dna’s Shashi Bhushan, he said that from the very first day coming into power, his government would start working to fulfill promises made in election manifesto.
According to you who will form the next government?
People are smart enough and they will overwhelmingly vote for BJP. We will form the next government with comfortable majority. There is no doubt. People voted for Congress for three consecutive terms but unfortunately despite that Sheila Dikshit-led government has failed on every front. There is anger against Congress government in Delhi (state) and New Delhi (Centre).
If BJP failed to get majority, what will be the next move?
Whatever exit polls are saying, our ground reports clearly show that we are all set to get majority. I can not specify the exact number of seats BJP would win, but we will have comfortable majority to form the government.
Would you take support from Aam Admi Party (AAP), if BJP falls short of majority?
This is a hypothetical question. On the basis of the inputs we received from our workers and people we are sure of forming the government on our own. We are not going to have any alliance with the AAP.
Vijay Geol on Thursday said that BJP is open to take support (from AAP) and you are saying there would be no alliance?
We are all set for clear majority, so there is no question of taking support from AAP to form the government. Whatever Goelji said is his personal opinion. BJP is well ahead of its rival in the election and the results would reflect it. No one’s support would be required to form government
What were the issues the election would be remembered for?
One of the biggest issues was failure of the Congress government on every front. There is complete misgovernance. The Congress failed to provide jobs, women felt unsafe. People didn’t even get safe drinking water. Corruption and Inflation were also major issues. I firmly believe that this time voters from Delhi would not waste their vote and given BJP a clear by majority.
What will be your government’s priorities for first 100 days after coming to power?
From the very first day we would ensure that prices of onion and other vegetables come down as we promised in our manifesto. We have already told our priority ‘dus din, dus iirade’ (ten days, ten goals) and our government will start working on it. People’s have given their verdict in our favour and our government would try to match their expectation.
