India has decided to take a "final call" on voting on the UN resolution against Sri Lanka for alleged war crimes it committed against Lankan Tamils only after studying its final draft, which was to be made available in Geneva late on Monday.

India has decided to take a “final call” on voting on the UN resolution against Sri Lanka for alleged war crimes it committed against Lankan Tamils only after studying its final draft, which was to be made available in Geneva late on Monday.

The announcement came amidst a clamour among southern parties that India vote against the island nation. Ally DMK has threatened to pull out of the government if it refuses to do so.

India has called its representative to the UN in Geneva to Delhi for consultations on the draft resolution before the voting takes place.

“The foreign secretary has also asked our permanent representative to the UN, Dilip Sinha, to come over to Delhi on Tuesday,” said an official spokesperson for the ministry of external affairs.
