Congress leader Jagdambika Pal on Saturday lashed out at the Madhya Pradesh Government over Friday night's untoward incident of the gang-rape of a Swiss lady, and termed it as a failure on their part to provide protection to foreign tourists.
"Question marks and eyebrows will be raised on the Madhya Pradesh government as this is not a first. It is time for the Central and the State government to work together in resolving such issues," he told the media in Basti.
The couple was camping near Jhadia village when seven men allegedly looted them and raped the woman.
A case has been registered against eight unidentified people in Datia Civil Lines police station in Madhya Pradesh.
Datia's Deputy Superintendent of Police ML Dhoni earlier in the day said that the local police is awaiting the medical reports
"This incident took place at 8:30 pm. The molesters also stole their laptop and were demanding Rs10,000. We are trying to trace the culprits," he said.
The woman is presently undergoing treatment at the Kamalaraje Hospital in Gwalior. According to reports, her medical tests have confirmed rape.
