The Jammu and Kashmir government today said it had already requested the Centre for the return of mortal remains of Afzal Guru to his family members.
As PDP and Independent members vociferously raised the issue in the state Assembly, Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs minister Mir Saifullah said the state government had already requested the Centre for the return of Guru's body to his family members.
The Minister said the state government was serious on the issue and this evident from the fact that Chief Minister Omar Abdullah had written a letter to the Union government demanding return of Guru's body.
He said the government shares concerns of the members on the issue.
Pandemonium broke out in the House which was adjourned thrice following Opposition protests over Union Home Minister Sushilkumar Shinde' statement that Guru's body would not be returned to his family.
Parliament attack convict Guru was buried in Tihar jail in Delhi after he was hanged on February nine.
