Congress president Sonia Gandhi has stressed the need to check the misutilisation of funds and corruption in the job guarantee scheme being run under the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA)
About the Act introduced in 2005 with an aim of improving the purchasing power of the rural people, primarily semi or un-skilled work to people living in rural India, Gandhi said, "MNREGA can play a big role in fulfilling our dreams of second green revolution."
She, however, added that, "There is a need to remove bottle-necks in participation of women in MNREGA scheme."
