The High Court has suggested the state government bear travel and lodging expenses to be incurred by badminton player Prajakta Sawant who has qualified to participate in two international tournaments to be held in February and March. The HC said Sawant is a talented badminton player and she should be encouraged by the state to participate in international tournaments.

Sawant will have to make a representation to the state after the Badminton Association of India refused to bear the expenses on the grounds that she was not a member of a big team going for the tournament.

Sawant had moved court with allegations of harassment and bias against national coach Pulella Gopichand.
