Valsad police arrested three thieves who tried to rape a lone woman present in the house they had gone to burgle in Valsad on Wednesday. Valsad police is registering a case on trio.
Thieves entered the house located at Vijay nagar in Nanakwada area of Valsad at around 10:30 am on Wednesday. After breaking in from the backdoor, the initial plan to steal valuables screeched to a halt, when the trio came across the owner of the house, a 35-year-old woman!
Before the woman could call for help, one of the thieves pushed her into a bed and the other too soon joined him and the three began to harass her sexually. However, the gutsy woman not only managed to free herself, but screamed for help. Hearing her screams, local residents rushed to the house. The trio knew that the change of plans will cost them heavy and so made plans of escaping, which the residents soon cut short. After a sound thrashing, the trio was then handed over to Valsad town police station. Identified as Rafiq Khan 22, Anil Kashyap 24 and Dinesh Patel 20, the trio are residents of Mograwadi in Valsad. Originally from UP, they eke a living from burglary. Valsad police are checking if they were involved in similar crimes in the past too.
In the meantime, a case under section 398, 452, 354 and 114 of IPC has been registered against them, while cops investigate further.
