Redraw red lines on Pak ties: Arun Jaitley

BJP seized the opportunity for nailing the UPA government’s wavering Pakistan policy over the killing of two Indian soldiers by intruding Pak soldiers across the LoC in Jammu. While leader of opposition in Lok Sabha, Sushma Swaraj spoke to national security adviser Shiv Shankar Menon and expressed the opposition party’s security concerns, leader of opposition in Rajya Sabha, Arun Jaitley, talked of “redrawing the red lines” in the bilateral relations.

Party’s chief spokesman Ravi Shankar Prasad described the beheading of one of the two soldiers and the mutilation of the body of another as “inhuman, barbaric”.  Prasad, however,  parried a DNA query about American pressure on the NDA and UPA governments to keep the dialogue going with Pakistan, and said the NDA government went ahead with the 1998 nuclear tests despite US opposition and the sanctions that followed.

Meanwhile, attacking the Congress-led UPA government over the killing of soldiers, the Shiv  Sena in Mumbai has demanded defence minister AK Antony’s resignation. The party which is opposed to sports and cultural ties with Pakistan, has questioned why India was playing cricket with Pakistan while Indian soldiers were being killed.
