Killers tried to take away second jawan's head too

A day after the “barbaric act” by Pakistani army, the Indian army on Wednesday lodged a strong protest with the Pakistani army.

Director general military operation Lt General Vinod Bhatia spoke to his counterpart in Pakistan, Lt General Ishfaq Nadeem Ahmed through hotline at 10 am.

“We have lodged a strong protest by giving the details of Tuesday’s incident. It was also conveyed to him that this action was carried out by regular troops of Pakistan’s army, in which two Indian soldiers were martyred,” Indian army spokesperson said in New Delhi.

During conversation which lasted for about 15 minutes, the Pakistani director general denied involvement of his army, and has said,  “Pakistan army did not cross Line of Control and has not carried out this action.” In reaction to this Lt Gen Bhatia promptly asked his counterpart to “carry out an investigation to investigate who carried out attack on Indian soldiers.”

According to sources, attackers were wearing black uniform, which is a uniform of Special Service Group (SSG) of Pakistani commando unit.

Meanwhile, the army has ordered a court of inquiry to look into the incident and are yet to recover the head of one of the soldiers of the 13 Rajputana Riffles slain on the LoC in Mendhar sector of Poonch district on Tuesday. Army suspects soldier’s head might have been taken away by Pakistani troops, who were donning black patka (head gear) when they fled from the scene.
Sources said after chopping head of one of the soldiers, Pakistani attackers also tried to take away of head of second Indian soldier. But they could not.
