As a prelude to the sixth edition of the Vibrant Gujarat Global Investor Summit (VGGIS), a one-day seminar on ‘Unleashing Women Power in Gujarat’ was held in the city on Saturday.
Different topics revolving around women were discussed such as business and policy environment, social eco-system, PR networking and women’s networking.
The event was inaugurated by minister of state for education, women and child development, Vasuben Trivedi, and the theme address was given by secretary, women and child development department in state, Anju Sharma.
In one of the sessions on successful women, Vadodara Chamber of Commerce and Industry president Avi Sabawala, Calorx foundation’s Pooja Manjula Shroff and Wricha Johari, who runs a social enterprise, shared their experiences.
Sabawala, who is the first woman to head the engineering business dominated body, encouraged women to awaken their inner strength.
Talking about heading a team of male colleagues she said, “They support you when they realise we understand the profession as well as they do and that we understand their language and can speak in the same language,” she said.
Balancing professional and personal life also emerged in the discussions where women delegates said it was imperative to let the family know their priorities and commitment to their profession.
