Sonia targets Modi govt for neglecting Saurashtra ryots

Keshod, a small town of Junagadh district in Saurastra region has in the last two days played host to three big leaders of three major political parties.
After BJP’s star campaigner, Narendra Modi challenged UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi to come prepared to Gujarat during his public rally at Keshod on Thursday, Sonia Gandhi raised questions about the BJP government’s neglectful attitude towards Saurashtra farmers, during her public rally in the same town on Friday. On the same day, Gujarat Parivartan Party (GPP) leader Gordhan Zadafia also addressed a public rally for the GPP candidate in Keshod.
Though she was late by over two hours, when Gandhi arrived at the venue, people  welcomed her enthusiastically.
“They (Modi and BJP) claim that they have done maximum work in the last ten years, then why they didn’t solve the water shortage issue in Saurashtra? Now during election time they have announced that all 110 dams and rivers in Saurashtra will be filled with Narmada water. The Narmada project was announced by Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru. The BJP government cannot provide Narmada water to Saurashtra,” said Sonia Gandhi.
Raising questions about the BJP’s announcement of building 50 lakh houses in five years, Gandhi asked, “They are saying that they will built 50 lakh houses, but why didn’t they do it earlier?”
She also talked about how the UPA government had waived off farmers’ debts and said  the Gujarat farmers have suffered a lot because of the state government.
Apart from GPCC president Arjun Modhwadia and leader of Opposition Shaktisinh Gohil, local leader Viththal Radadia and AICC secretary Mohan Prakash also accompanied Gandhi.
