State government has described Aam Aadmi Party president Arvind Kejriwal’s charges against chief minister Narendra Modi as baseless.
“Not one of the allegations that have been leveled against the chief minister by Arvind Kejriwal can stand. Congress too has made similar allegations against the chief minister,” said Saurabh Patel, energy minister and spokesperson of the state government.
Government also dismissed Kejriwal’s allegations that Adani was granted huge tracts of land at throwaway prices.
“The land has been allotted to Adani Group for development of port and related infrastructure for 30 years on BOOT basis. The government is getting rent for the land, and it will come back to the government after 30 years,” said Patel.
Kejriwal had said that Modi has allotted 14,306-acre land to Adani in Kutch alone at rates ranging from Re1 per sq mt to Rs32 per sq mt.
Patel also defended the move to sign power purchase agreement with Adani Power.
“Gujarat government entered into agreements with Adani to supply power at Rs2.35 and Rs2.89 per unit respectively as the company offered the lowest price in competitive bidding. Kejriwal’s allegations in this regard are unsubstantiated,” he said.
Patel also rejected the anti-graft crusader turned politician’s charges alleging wrongdoings in GSPC’s agreements with Geoglobal Resources and Jubilant Enpro.
Patel said that the DGH and union petroleum ministry had approved the agreements. He added that agreement between GSPC and Geoglobal has already been terminated. However, he didn’t clarify on the GSPC-Jubilant deal.
