"Great opportunities to help others seldom come, but small ones surround us every day," goes a saying. We at DNA decided to make use of a small opportunity to help those who are likely to spend the Diwali without a roof over their head, new clothes to cover themselves and sweets to compensate the bitter experience of life.
Our grand plans would have come to naught had it not been for the generous help extended by our readers from various parts of the city. This Diwali, your donations as part of this newspaper's 'Donate, Don't Discard' campaign have helped us bring smile on face of half-naked kids in Ganeshpura as they received a computer for newly built school where children of displaced by the Sabarmati Riverfront Project study, a music system that will help them listen to new jingles, rhymes and poetries as they study.
As donation- DNA received stylish clothes, trendy woollens, toys, school bags, games, a music system, a computer, a VCR, an ipod etc to mention a few things. Apart from distributing donations- clothes, shoe, games, toys in Ganeshpura with the help of an organisation — Rehthan Adhikar Manch, donations made by you will also bring smile for underprivileged as Blind People's Association and members of Women Empowerment Corporation distributes their share from the donations.
While Rehthan Adhikar Manch distributed donations in Ganeshnagar, outside Lal Darwaja where displaced people from near the Gujri Bazaar live, BPA will donate it to underprivileged living around the campus, for their hostels, sell some materials in their charity shop to raise money for them.
Members of Women Empowerment Corporation distributed clothes in CTM area in eastern Ahmedabad.
