After three days of investigation, Satellite police finally solved the murder mystery of Tikaram Sharma, whose body was found near the garbage dump in Rajivnagar area on early Friday morning. According to Satellite police, Sharma aka Soni, a native of Dailekh district in Nepal, was murdered on Thursday night by four of his colleagues.
The accused include Mukesh Bhandari, Jeet Bahadur, Pravin Gagan Pandey and Shyam Rana aka Sam, all natives of Nepal. Satellite police arrested Bhandari, Bahadur and Pandey on Monday, while Rana has been declared wanted. He vanished with his wife from their rented house in Guptangar area after Sharma’s murder. According to BN Chavda, police inspector of Satellite, Bhandari had planned to kill Sharma with the help of the other three accused.
“One year back, Sharma snatched Rs10,000 from Bhandari and never returned it. When Bhandari failed to recover it from Sharma, he decided to take revenge by killing him,” said Chavda, who detected the murder by taking a lead from the bedsheet used by the accused to cover the dead body. “We had found the body covered in a bedsheet. When we questioned Sharma’s other roommates, including Bahadur, about it, they inadvertently mentioned that the bedsheet was Sharma’s. That was when we realized that these people had something to do with the murder. Based on that lead, we cracked the case,” added Chavda. Investigation revealed Sharma and Bhandari came to Ahmedabad six to seven years back and worked at café Ellanza at Shyamal crossroads.
Bahadur, Pandey and Rana too worked at the same café. While Sharma used to live in a rented room in Rajivnagar - 6 with Bahadur and three others, Bhandari used to live in a rented house in Kesar apartment behind the café.
While Sharma was asleep in his room on Thursday night, Bahadur called the three other accused to the room. “Bhandari and Rana strangulated him with their hands while Bahadur and Pandey held his legs. After his death, Rana wrapped the body in a bedsheet and carried it to the garbage dump,” said Chavda.
