Lok Sabha Speaker Meira Kumar on Friday announced in the House that Kanauj MP Akhilesh Yadav, who is now chief minister of Uttar Pradesh, had submitted his resignation on May 2 and it was accepted by her the same day.
"Akhilesh Yadav had submitted his resignation from the Lok Sabha with immediate effect on May 2. I have accepted his resignation with effect from May 2," Kumar informed the House.
Yadav, who was MP from Kanauj, is now a Member of Legislative Council in Uttar Pradesh.
