Arvind Kejriwal said had the Congres handled the people's movements better, the elections results would have been much 'different'.

Asserting that assembly election results of the five states is an overwhelming mandate against the Congress and its UPA government, team Anna member Arvind Kejriwal Tuesday said had the Congres handled the people’s movements (read Lokpal movement and Baba Ramdev fiasco) better, the elections results would have been much “different”.

“All parties are corrupt but election results seems to be an overwhelming mandate against Congress at the centre. Had the Congress passed the Jan Lokpal Bill (JLB), results would have been different. Now, they should take a lesson from the poll results and pass a strong JLB so that it benefits them in the future,” Kejriwal told DNA.

“The way the government handled the Lokpal movement or Baba Ramdev’s agitation were the main factors for the Congress loss. The way the Congress repeatedly betrayed Lokpal movement also turned people against them,” Kejriwal said.

Reacting on the election results, Kiran Bedi echoed Kejriwal’s views. “When Congress started to use state power to discredit anti-corruption movement/voices, it put its own grassroot workers on the defensive. Had national parties focussed on rampant corruption and for providing strong Lokayukts, people would have rewarded them. No one did!,” Bedi tweeted.
