After huge uproar by students of various colleges, police have started driving out all anti-social elements and eve-teasers who gang up outside colleges.
The demands by students came after a gruesome attack on a student of SM Patel Institute of Commerce (SMPIC) by a mob of 50 anti-social elements. On Thursday, during the ongoing youth festival at SMPIC, the mob beat up two students of the college, including the son of MF Dastoor, chief fire officer.
Kaivan Dastoor, son of MF Dastoor, was beaten up by one Jaivik Khan Pathan and his 49 friends on the campus of SMPIC on GLS premises near Law Garden. Kaivan's hand got fractured after he was hit by Pathan with a baseball bat. The mob also ransacked the decorations and a stage inside the college.
After receiving the compliant, Navrangpura police took a tough stand against all such miscreants who sit outside the campus. They also noticed many eve-teasers try to woo college girls with stunts on bikes.
Navrangpura police caught a youngster with a modified bike, which didn't have a registration number. "He was sitting with some other eve-teasers outside a college. After we seized his bike, others quickly ran away from the spot. It is a message to all eve-teasers that we will not spare anyone involved in such activities," said PM Sarvaiya, senior police inspector of Navrangpura. He also assured that cleansing drive will restart from Monday.
