6,37,240 voters in Tripura elections

Altogether 6,37,240 voters are eligible to exercise their franchise in the elections for the 30-member Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC) scheduled to be held in May this year.
    
According to the draft voters list published here today, the number of male voters are 3,20,697 and the remaining are females.

The photo electoral rolls were prepared on the basis of existing electoral rolls of the state Assembly constituencies with January 2009 as the base year.

The final electoral rolls will be published on March 24 to pave the way for holding council election.
    
Of the 30 members in the tribal council, 28 are elected directly by the voters and two are nominated by the Governor.

The council constituting two-third of the state territory is the home to the tribals who form one-third of the population.
