Last year, Patty Jenkins changed the landscape of superhero movies with first superhero movie with female lead Wonder Woman and she feels that it is an honour in paving the way for women directors in the film industry and can't wait to see what is ahead.

While giving an interview to a leading entertainment show, the 46-year-old filmmaker said, "It is any filmmaker's dream to have an impact on the art form that they work in - and I hope that I do with everything that I do - and I so appreciate being honoured in any way for that."

The Monster helmer is hugely honoured to be a part of changing the conversation.

"It's definitely a huge deal to realise that people haven't been honouring other kinds of directors. I think I wasn't even thinking about it much coming up in my career, but now that I see it I'm hugely honoured to be a part of changing that conversation," noted Jenkins.

Meanwhile, Patty recently revealed that she is really 'excited' about the future of the DC Extended Universe because of how many talented directors are involved in the upcoming movies.

Jenkins noted, "There are a lot of great filmmakers around the DC Universe and there are a lot of great characters. My favourite thing about the DC Universe is some of these characters have been the greatest, most original superheroes for decades. I think there's just exciting things to be done with them ahead and lots of different people that I'm excited about seeing. All of us are very different and we're all going to do different things. So I can't wait to see the variety, personally."

On the professional front, Jenkins has reportedly started working on the sequel of Wonder Woman, which is set to hit the theatres on November 1, 2019.
