The first trailer for Alicia Vikander's Tomb Raider landed on Friday (IST) and with that, we are back in the world of puzzles and adventures.

In this revival based on 2013 video game 'Rise of the Tomb Raider.' Lara Croft, played by Oscar-winner Alicia Vikander, leads a normal life in London until the death of her father Lord Richard Croft, played by Dominic West.

According to the synopsis, 21-year-old Lara Croft refuses to take charge of the global empire her father set up before disappearing seven years ago. Lara is in college and works as a bike courier in London on the side. Something happens and Lara decides to investigate her father's disappearance starting at his last-known location: a tomb on an island somewhere off the coast of Japan.

In the trailer, we see Lara meet Lu Ren, played by Daniel Wu of Into the Badlands, who reluctantly takes up her offer to find the truth behind her father's death. On this 'adventure' they meet Mathias Vogel, our good 'ol villain played by Walton Goggins of The Hateful Eight fame.

What happens next is an action-packed attempt to make archaeology look sexy again.
