Vin Diesel is planning fourth 'xXx' film, no word on Deepika Padukone's return yet

Vin Diesel's One Race Films, along with studio H Collective, have acquired the rights of the xXx franchise and announced the fourth instalment.

Under the deal, Revolution Studios retains rights to the first three films which have collectively grossed nearly $1 billion worldwide.

DJ Caruso, who directed xXx: Return of Xander Cage, will return for the new film, with Diesel reprising his role as extreme sports athlete-turned-reluctant agent Xander Cage, reported Variety.

Joe Roth and Jeff Kirschenbaum will produce the project along with Diesel, Samantha Vincent for One Race Films and the H Collective.

Diesel first played Xander Cage in 2002's Rob Cohen-directed xXx. However, the actor was missing from the sequel, xXx: State of the Union, which was released in 2005.

He made a comeback to the franchise with 2017's xXx: Return of Xander Cage, which also starred Deepika Padukone, Ruby Rose, Samuel L Jackson, Nina Dobrev and Toni Collette.

Will Deepika Padukone come back for the fourth instalment?

Well, the Padmaavat actress' people have emphasized that she will return to Hollywood but it will not be with Vin Diesel.

But if director DJ Caruso to be believed, he wants all the preliminary cast members of the threequel to return.

During a Q&A with fans on Twitter, Caruso said 'All coming back' when asked if he has replaced any of the stars for the next movie in xXx franchise. When someone specifically pushed him about Deepika's character Serena, Caruso replied with insistent 'Oh Yes.'

"(We’re) trying to get everyone'ss schedules to line up again. It’s definitely a discussion because it did so well around the globe.

"The business side makes sense and the group of us had so much fun making it, we’d love to get back together again," Caruso told Express.co.uk
