Priyanka Chopra has signed on to play the romantic interest of Chris Pratt's character in Universal Pictures' Cowboy Ninja Viking. But turns out that will have to wait because the movie has been delayed indefinitely.

According to a report by Collider, the movie has been pulled from the release slate of the studio which had scheduled it to hit theatres on June 28, 2019. Cowboy Ninja Viking is based on a graphic novel by AJ Lieberman and illustrator Riley Rossmo. Craig Mazin wrote the draft with Deadpool writers Paul Wernick and Rhett Reese. The movie is being looked at as a potential franchise in this time of prequels and sequels.

The novel is about an assassin who posses the toughest skills of a Cowboy, a Ninja, and a Viking; hence the name.

Reportedly the movie was supposed to start shooting in London next month. It was being speculated that if the wedding with beau Nick Jonas is not the reason then Priyanka Chopra opted out of Salman Khan's Bharat and Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Gangubai Kothewali, it must be Pratt's film.

While SLB denied that he ever discussed such a film with Priyanka, Salman Khan said that he will read up on what has happened and get back on the same.

Variety report said that though delayed, the movie is very much in active development with Pratt, Priyanka Chopra, and director Michelle MacLaren still attached to the project. Universal said that the movie will get another release date at a later time to solve the production scheduling issue.

Pratt is coming off the success of Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom. He is also gearing up to promote the second Lego movie with Elizabeth Banks. PeeCee, on the other hand, is shooting for Shonali Bose’s The Sky Is Pink with Farhan Akhtar and Zaira Wasim.
