St. Louis rapper, Huey, popular for his debut single Pop, Lock & Drop It has been killed in a shooting in Kinloch, Missouri, the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reported. Reports state that the rapper was taken a local hospital after which he was pronounced dead. He was 31 years old.

The news was confirmed by music executive William "Quayshaun" Carter who worked with Huey in 2010s who said that Huey was raised on the streets and chose to do something different with his life.

He said, "He was a good kid. He was raised on the streets and he chose to do something different. He'd just started another business - he was getting into upscale clothing, and it was working out, and he was happy. His passing is a tragic loss to the hip-hop world. He was a part of hip-hop history."

His debut track "Pop, Lock & Drop It" was released in 2006 by Jive Records. For the uninformed, the single jumped to No. 6 on the Billboard Hot 100 in June 2007. It was also in 2007 that Huey released his studio debut Notebook Paper which also included guests such as T-Pain, Yo Gotti, Lloyd, Trey Songz, and Mario, among others.

However, careerwise Huey’s output slowed in the years that followed. He still released Redemption in the year 2010 and had said that he signed with Waka Flocka Flame’s Brick Squad Monopoly in 2013. He also shared the Project H mixtape in 2014.
