Jimmy Kimmel returned to host the 90th Academy Awards on Monday (IST). Naturally, he began with assuring people that there will not be another envelope-gate this time. Last year, a wrong envelope was handed to Warren Beatty and Fay Dunaway who had come out to announce Best Picture category. They declared La La Land to be the winners instead of Moonlight.

Joking about the incident, Kimmel explained that since he didn't want to do a joke with the PriceWaterhouseCoopers accountants, they decided to do one on their own!

Following are a few more jokes that were part of Kimmel's opening monologue.

1. This year when you hear your name called, don't get up right away

2. On why Oscar (statue) is the prefered man in Hollywood right now - “Keeps his hands where you can see them, never says a rude word, and most importantly, no penis at all. He is literally a statue of limitations.”

3. The success of Black Panther is one of the most positive stories of this year. Especially for African-Americans and Bob Iger (Disney CEO)

4. Mark Wahlberg and Michelle Williams returned for reshoots of All the Money in the World after Kevin Spacey scandal. Wahlberg was paid $1.5 million while Williams was paid $80 per day. Both the actors are represented by the same agency. Taking a dig Kimmel said, “If we can’t trust agents… who can we trust?”

5. Jordan Peele is nominated for three awards. Joking about his movie Get Out, Kimmel said that Donald Trump called it "best first three-quarters of a movie this year.”

6. “How does Lin Manuel-Miranda compare to the real Alexander Hamilton?” - Kimmel joking about Christopher Plummer's age.

7. Kimmel also offered a free jet ski to the winners who will keep their speech short

Helen Mirren helped him present the prize.
