Former first lady of the United States of America, Michelle Obama, has joined the cheering squad for Marvel's smash hit Black Panther.

Taking to her Twitter account the former FLOTUS wrote, "Congrats to the entire #blackpanther team! Because of you, young people will finally see superheroes that look like them on the big screen. I loved this movie and I know it will inspire people of all backgrounds to dig deep and find the courage to be heroes of their own stories."

Obama is not the first significant African-American face to praise the movie starring Chadwick Boseman as T'Challa/Black Panther, Lupita Nyong'o, Michael B Jordon, Daniel Kaluuya, Letitia Wright, Winston Duke, Angela Basset, Forest Whitaker, Andy Serkis and Martin Freeman.

Tennis star Serena Williams, media mogul Oprah Winfrey, Selma director Ava DuVernay, TV queen Shonda Rhimes have been pretty vocal about promoting the movie directed by Ryan Coogler.

The movie is receiving rave reviews and is going strong at the box office.

Black Panther has raced past The Dark Knight and Iron Man to earn the best-aggregated score on Rotten Tomatoes of any live-action superhero film. The film's score is currently at 97%.

Many of these stars are making sure that the movie reaches a wider audience and are coming up with different ways to facilitate that. Rapper Travis Scott and Snoop Dogg rented movie theatres. Serena Williams took students of 'Black Girls Code' for a special screening. Brie Larson started a thread for those who want to buy tickets for those who can't afford it.

Internationally, the movie raked in $169 million according to a report in Variety. And this is only 70% of the market share since the movie is set to open in Russia on February 22, Japan on March 1. The massive market of China will be open for business on March 9 for the film.

It was heading for a super-heroic $218 million debut over the four-day President's Day weekend at 4,020 North American locations.
